About Sigonella Animal Welfare Society Inc. (SAWS)

Sigonella Animal Welfare Society Inc. (SAWS) is a nonprofit, volunteer-run rescue organization dedicated to helping animals in need throughout the Sigonella community in Sicily.

We rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome cats and dogs through a foster-based system - meaning every animal is cared for in a private home rather than a shelter. This approach provides them with individualized attention, appropriate medical care, and the stability they need to thrive and prepare for life in a forever home.

SAWS is rooted in community support, transparency, and responsible rescue practices. Everything we accomplish is made possible by the dedication of our volunteers, foster families, and supporters.
